Etuska I read that one of the parents should always speak one language and the second one another and they should never mix it 'cause it's confusing for children. 😒 I'm not sure I will be able to talk to my children in English all the time. 😖

My friend managed, she spoke only in English and her husband in Slovak. But I couldn´t manage. I cant explain my feelings in foreighn language.

The children connect the language with the person who speaks it. They are not awere of the differences between languages. So that's why it's confusing for them if you speak Slovak and English, too.

Sharlotta- I´ve read that too,but if I want my daughter to be good in English ,I have to help her, because she is so eager to learn English because she wants to find new friends here. Sometimes I just tell to myself "poor Michaela" ☹ She can feel lonely because she loves children company...
I don´t see any problems so far and she is learning very quickly:Sometimes I have to forget about all the theories 😀

I couldn´t speak to my child English only as well.I agree with what Duska is saying 😉

Joj baby, tak vám závidím, že viete takto perfektne komunikovať v angličtine, no u mňa to nie je veru nič valné a na takúto vyspelú komunikáciu, akú tu vediete by mi tie moje vedomosti nestačili.Good night 😵

I work in a pizza factory as a production operative (boring and uninteresting). I know, 4 years is very long time and I would like to go back home but we are waiting for my husband's certificates which he will have done by the end of the next year.
I live aproximately 20 minutes by car from Liverpool. I like being here but i wouldn't stay here forever.

maryah

my husband help me to fight with this feeling. i probably wouldn't study english without him.
on the other side, it is very nice when you watch an englich tv or listen to a radio and you understand everything they say. this makes me feel good ...

Well, in Slovakia I was a secondary school teacher and now I´m at home waiting for my "police check" and I should start working as a "classroom assistant"- a part-time job 😉

I found also another job,but I can´t work more hours as my daughter has lessons only from 9-12:00 and I don´t want to put her to a nursery, because she doesn´t speak English yet

Wow girls - such a vivid conversation!!spent half an hour reading it!!!
Didn´t say anything about me - I´m 30 with 4-month-old son, married for 2,5 years. Lived in England 1 year (Bournemouth) but then came back to study at university - finished British and American studies in Presov.

Maryah - same feelings, I would never stay in EN forever although I had a chance (ex wanted to marry me of course). Today after a long time in SVK I would love to visit those places again....maybe I will, my brother lives in London xi xi

Oh and I loooove English 😀

Hi Norik,
When did you finish your university studies in PO?I did mine in 2005.Did you have a language school in Presov? Was is really so hard work-I mean paper work, accountancy and everything...Because it is my dream to open one when we come back from UK(eventhough I don´t know when it ´ll be 😀 )

I´m having English lesson in couple of minutes so I´d better go now.Talk to U later 😉

Thatk you Blue horsie for running properly 🙂

Etuska: Finished in 2002 - we were only second year to finish this specialisation...laboratory rats 😀 😀 😀
What did you study?
Concerning the language school: all depends on your starting budget => will I have enough money to pay my teachers & invoices (rental, drinks, paper, copying, sweets, phones...)? Will I find good teachers? Will I have enough students?
Language school is a hard business - you´ve got to know the right people to sign contracts with companies otherwise you´ll end up teaching only individuals...they are fine but its the companies who give you the profit...And believe me cities run out of companies with interest to study and PAY...Good LS has at least one foreign teacher, preferably non-drinker (not so easy to find) - again s/he is more expensive than Slovak teachers and you have to give him/her enough lessons to earn money for living/drinking... And its more to it... I´m not saying it´s impossible - I´m saying you´ve got to have guts to do it - and survive 😀

Of course, one solution is to find a friend and start together...again bad experience...my friend "stabbed" me- she sent an anonym to tax office saying that I stole money and that I have luxurionus life...and they came to my house to check it! But living with parents is not a luxury so they left...and we studied together, worked togethet and spent 6 evenings a week out in bars and cafés... I would never believe how money can change a person....I still don´t...

Norik-I was thinking about starting a really little bussiness ,like U mentioned -either on my own or with a friend of mine.Oh,what an awful person that might me who did such a horrible thing to you.Shame on her 😠

Hi, I've got a 2 year old and unfortunately when I talk to her I mix languages. But I find difficult to speak to her in Slovak. I know it sounds strange but after leaving here for 10 years and not using or hearing Slovak here much, that's what happens. So I'm trying to put at least some Slovakian words in her head. At the moment she speaks English and sometimes uses Slovakian words (sponka, sopel 😀 , paplon, ideme). But at least she understands when my family talks to her. But I keep trying 😉

That´s true - can I come? 😀 😀 😀 would love to, really...

Etushka - keep my fingers crossed for you in your business honey not all people are as mean as my ex friend... one day she will understand how bad she has been to lots of people...I don´t wish her anything bad...she must be a very unfortunate person actually...
So did you study EN? then we had the same teachers 😀
