Create your own ''Groups'' on Blue Horsey

Introducing our newest feature to you all 🙂 Groups - bringing together mums, those pregnant and those TTC based on living in the same county, same date of birth (or age of children), but also based on similar interests, passions, hobbies and beliefs ...

Where are Groups?

Groups can be found under ‘’Photoblogs’’ on the left hand side.

What are Groups?

There are two types of Groups, the ‘automatic’ ones and groups that you can create on your own - on any topic that you like! (PS. Please be assured that all group posts are only visible to its members and not public to the world wide web/google).

Automatic groups are formed by the system based on information you entered into your personal profile: the county you live, expected due date (or age of children), and if you’re trying to conceive.

Just wanted to share @mrsegan and Esmé are one of the lucky mum&baby photo chosen to represent BH 🙂 Please give a warm welcome to all the new mums on https://www.facebook.com/Bluehorsey.co.uk and to see a sneak preview of @mrsegan and Esmé. More photos to be shared next week xx

Be the Face of Blue Horsey Mums

Hi Ladies,

A short while back I asked for your thoughts about what you loved most about the site and how we could best attract new mums to join this warm and loving community (aka the Blue Horsey Family as some have you added 🙂

As always, you came back with some great suggestions and ideas (Facebook ads, posters in local community centres/playgroups etc).

As part of this, we are currently working on improving our registration page for new users. We want this page to reflect everything Blue Horsey is about - the friendliness and support that we get from one another as we share our daily lives, worries and joys.

And this is where I call upon you lovely ladies for your help in reflecting this to new mums on our site:

  • We want to have a photo there of a mum from Blue Horsey along with a short caption about what you love most about Blue Horsey and how it has helped you as mum or mum to be on your journey.
  • I have added 3 screenshots below of what mums on our sister site in the Czech Republic have given us 🙂 The translations are rough but it's just to give an illustration.

Moved by all your words, kindness, support and genuine friendship on here. In memory of all babies lost too soon on this earth, lit a virtual candle on https://www.facebook.com/Bluehorsey.mothers.chat and if you have Google+ just launched us there too https://plus.google.com/112161490644014645195/p... xx

Yay, photo from last Blue Horsey ladies meet up uploaded https://www.facebook.com/Bluehorsey.mothers.chat 🙂 Sorry ladies, I tried to resize but it made the pic fuzzy xx

What's new in Photoblog

Hi All,

Whilst I've been away, there have been some new changes made to the layout and navigation of the Photoblog, a revamp, a restyle, all with the aim of making it easier to find things.

What's Changed?

Displaying more prominently posts from your friends, a new layout and navigation.

What your friends have been doing and liking

This was also visible before, but now we have made it more prominent, as seen below. As the site grows, and across all our sites, this was a feature asked for by users as no one can help and advise you better than friends 🙂 Of course, you can always continue to use the ''All'' feed too. It's an extra option.

Hi 🙂 Just following up from yesterday's new forum look announcement. I've put together some information on these updates, that will hopefully help explain and show you how it all works. http://www.bluehorsey.co.uk/forum/thread/new-fo... .As always, if you have any questions, please feel free to message me xx

Just to let you all know, that there are some new and hopefully you'll agree improved features, happening to our Forum today. This means, that for some part of the day, the Forum will not be accessible. But rest assured, all other areas like Photoblogs will work fine 🙂

Don't forget the Dads 🙂 With Father's Day soon approaching, I thought it would be a nice idea to post pics of you and your father (when you were young) or your kids with their father onto https://www.facebook.com/Bluehorsey.mothers.chat. Then, the one with the most likes by Fathers Day will be displayed as our cover photo 🙂)

Happy Easter Everyone🙂 No Matter what the weather might be hope you have a ''sunny and bright'' holiday! P.S. Posted some yummy easter egg shaped cakes on FB, DIY! Might have try making some myself this weekend with my nephew!

Happy April morning (sun is shining where I am 🙂 Just wanted to let you all know that we have launched the ''friend'' feature. You can add someone as your friend by going to their photoblog and clicking the link under their profile photo. xx

Announcing your pregnancy - saw some great videos as on https://www.facebook.com/Bluehorsey.mothers.chat, please share and comment there your own experiences xx

Babies born in the Year of the Dragon

So, any babies born between Feb 4 2012 and Feb 3 2013, will officially be born in the Year of the Dragon - as per the Chinese Calendar.
The Year of the Dragon is the only mythical creature of the 12, and is thus considered to be the luckiest. They are expecting big baby booms as many will try for a Dragon Baby in China!

Good luck to all those Dragon baby parents in the upcoming year xx

Christmas feeling fast ascending with the snow outside! Please take a look and share your ideas/plans/pics for the holidays http://www.bluehorsey.co.uk/forum/thread/whats-...

Toddler tantrums

Childrens tantrums - have you experienced any? What are your tips and thoughts? Here are a few I found on some sites, do you agree?

The period of defiance starts from around 21-23 months up to 4 years. During this time, children and their moods change like the weather. It is during this period, that it is very important for kids to learn how to say ''no'', and building their own personality. They will keep testing the boundaries, as a form of affirming their independence. However, they will not fully understand a lot of these restrictions or their own sense of self-control.

How to handle such situations as a parent?

1. If possible, avoid conflict. This is not to say let your kids do anything they want as there will always be clear boundaries, but rather if possible anticipate the clashes.

2. Let your kids have the opportunity to choose and decide about things, that are not important to you. The greatest art is to find the right balance between when to step back and when to step in. For eg, if your child doesn't want to use the life, you could reply ''OK, let's walk''. The next time, you could ask ''Do you want to take the lift or walk?''. Or, the common scenario of children not wanting to wear what you have laid out - put out 2-3 trousers and jumpers on the bed so that they can choose.

3. Don't raise your voice/shout, or display anger.
