Reusable nappies my review.
I've previously been using disposables and dispoable inserts for gNappies since i had a c-section and cloth nappies seemed impossible then. Since i've almost recovered (apparently it takes up to a year before full recovery) i thought i'd give them ago as i consider myself an eco warrior (almost !!), i used soap nuts at uni and i'm a big fan of the mooncup . Anyway i'll review the totsbots / gnappies (also know as gdiapers and gpants in the USA) and the cheekywipes. I also have some lollipop nappies which i'm yet to use so i'll give you my feedback after i've tried them.
I'm very impressed so far with the totsbots, i actually find a whole nappy less fiddly than the gpants in which you have to insert a liner. the totsbots you can just throw in the wash. The disposable liners are great as you can just flush them down the loo and they catch all the mess. the washing machine seems to clean them completely with no staining. I find disposables spread the poo everywhere compared to the reusables where its in clumps. Ive not had much leakage either. Huggies i found leaked badly along with the naturecare. it was a nightmare when Tom was newborn, i was changing his clothes at least 3 times a day !. I think i'm going to stick with the totsbots, i love the velcro fasterning as its so easy to put on, no messing about with poppers. I love the reusable wetwipes mainly because they come with lavender oil (i absolutely love lavender) they come with two containers two one for fresh wipes and one for mucky wipes and wetbags for both. when you need to use them you just open up the box, use one (i find you only need one as its like a towelling material its actually made from bamboo so its more absorbant than a wet wipe) Compared to dispoable wet wipes which would require 3 for the same job. they are so soft two. I dont really use the mucky box because i just throw them in with the nappies into the nappy pail.
Overall i dont really have many complaints, one of the nappies leaked a bit last night but thats because my son sleeps for 9-12 hours at night and he was asleep after i took him out last night and didn't want to wake him whilst he was sleeping. i find that some of my wipes so greyish (no idea why since i wash them with the nappies).
Review of the lollipop nappy, bumgenius and closed parent pop-in nappies.
After Christmas i noticed that there was a huge sale on the lollipop nappies so i've bought a few - http://www.teamlollipop.co.uk/ they are very similar to the totsbots in terms of use and i quite like them. so need nappy wraps though because they dont have a waterproof layer.
Again the bumgenius are similar to the totsbots but the vectro fastening is a bit smaller, i've not had a problem though.
i really like the pop-in nappy the sides are very similar to disposables so they are less likely to leak !
i've also tried the flip nappies but im not that impressed bumgenius are better in comparsion.
off to see Toms nursery tomorrow !
